Thailand’s Khunatip Pidnuch is a 19-year-old talent at the lightweight (63kg) who switched from Muay Thai to Olympic boxing only this year but his strong martial arts roots delivered for him a close semi final success over Netherlands’ Cas Van Peer who claimed bronze in the 2018 EUBC European Youth Boxing Championships.
Pidnuch was confident in the final against England’s Numan Hussain and won the first title for Thailand in the event at the Group B of the lightweight (63kg).

Netherlands’ Artjom Kasparian met in the last four with France’s Bengoro Bamba who had just moved up to the light heavyweight (81kg) in the recent weeks. The 24-year-old Dutch and the French had similar tactic and in that game Kasparian was better in the first and second rounds. The French began the third round with a nice left-handed hook which increased Kasparian’s motivations and tempo. Kasparian controlled most of their exchanges and deserved to win their semi-finals.
