Eindhoven: Only one week before closing date of our final entries we are excited to announce the Eindhoven Box Cup has yet again secured an exciting field of boxers participating in the Netherlands largest boxing event!
Confirmed entries have been done by the National Boxing Federations of Russia, Ireland, India, Sri Lanka, Belgium and of course the Netherlands. This complemented with some very strong teams from for example England, France, Germany, Northern Ireland, Norway, Portugal, Scotland and Switzerland will make this tournament yet again a great success.
Also we are pleased to announce we have secured entries in all weight classes this year including the lightest and heaviest weight classes for both men and women.

Thank you for your registration for the Eindhoven Box Cup 2017, from 19 to 22 October 2017 in Hotel Van der Valk Eindhoven. We are now 3 months ahead of the Eindhoven Box Cup 2017, with the organizing committee working hard to get everything ready for the second edition of the Eindhoven Box Cup.

For teams that are traveling by air, and are arriving on Eindhoven Airport we have a dedicated pick-up and drop off service. If you are arriving on a different airport, we can assist you in planning your arrival by public transport and arrange a pick-up from Eindhoven Railway Station.

Eindhoven – The Eindhoven Box Cup organisation committee is pleased to announce registrations for the EBC 2017 are going very well. Already 30 teams from nine countries have entered to participate in the Netherlands’ only international and AIBA supervised boxing tournament.
Current entered teams are from the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Sweden, Norway, England, Ireland, Scotland and Denmark. Besides these entries also the national teams of Russia, Vietnam, China, South Africa, Mongolia and Kazachstan have enquired on participating in our 2017 annual Box Cup!
The Netherlands national team will be participating with an A and B team to be selected after this month’s national championships.

Eindhoven – The Eindhoven Box Cup is pleased to announce the agreement with Hotel Van der Valk has been made to organise this years edition of the prestigious tournament from 19 to 22 October 2017. Subsequently the AIBA has included the Eindhoven Box Cup in their international calendars, that haven’t got any major events in Europe around that period.
The first edition of the Eindhoven Box Cup was hosted last year during the Pentecost Holidays and was a great success. However, because of the European Championships are being held 14-25 June in Kharkiv Ukraine, it is expected many of the national selections and their sparring partners will be in preparation and will not be taking the risk of injuries entering in a tournament. This was also embraced by Dutch National Head Coach Hennie van Bemmel.
The organizing committee and Hotel van der Valk would have extremely regrets if the event needed to be cancelled after the successful first edition. Therefore has, in consultation, an alternative date been searched. This has become October when also the World Championships in Germany have already been left behind us. Hotel Van der Valk has offered an agreement in which the Eindhoven Box Cup can be hosted for three consecutive years in October.
The status of the Eindhoven Box Cup has been upgraded. Their will be an open registration for Elite Male and Female boxers in Open Class. In contrary to last year, Youth and Novice boxers can’t participate. Therefore the Eindhoven Box Cup will be an AIBA recognized tournament.
Chairman of the organizing committee, Brian Mous, has reacted with enthousiasm: “Especially the fact the Eindhoven Box Cup has an agreement for the coming three years is exciting and a step in the right direction. Now we can build to make this event a yearly tradition.”
Chairman of the Dutch Boxing Association, Boris van der Vorst: “The Eindhoven Box Cup embraces everything that is in our ambitions. The Netherlands need to be internationally recognized as a boxing nation and this fantastic initiative is contributing tremendously to it.”
Het bleef prijzen regenen voor de Nederlandse kampioenen tijdens het geslaagde Eindhoven Box Cup-toernooi. Zwaargewicht Roy Korving won in de finale zelfs voortijdig van de Engelsman Mason Holmes en Enrico Lacruz en Max van der Pas behaalden puntenzeges tegen Sulaiman Segawa en Ruben Veciunca.
De Nederlandse ploeg vertrekt binnenkort naar laatste kwalificatie-toernooi voor de Spelen. Deze overwinningen, eerder op de dag werden Peter Mullenberg en Alicia Holsken ook tot winnaar uitgeroepen, geven veel vertrouwen voor de toekomst.
Peter Mullenberg maakt sterke indruk bij Eindhoven Box Cup
De laatste keer dat Peter Mullenberg in Nederland bokste voor het vertrek naar de Olympische Spelen in Rio deJaneiro, heeft hij een prima indruk achtergelaten. Tijdens de succesvolle Eindhoven Box Cup won hij met overtuigend gemak zijn klasse. Zijn Britse tegenstander Patrick Allen Cripps uit Harwich was een maatje te klein en siepelend boksend veroverde hij voorsprong in punten. Peter Mullenberg kan binnenkort met een gerust gevoel in het vliegtuig naar Brazilië stappen.
Alicia Holzken is nog niet zover. Maar zij laat keer op keer blijken dat zij vooruitgang boekt. In de middagsessie van de Eindhoven Box Cup bleek zij sterker dan de Russin Galina Chumgalakova. Ook voor haar lag de felbegeerde hoofdprijs klaar.

Bondscoach Hennie van Bemmel kan tevreden zijn. Tijdens de eerste succesvolle Eindhoven Box Cup hebben alle leden van de A-selectie van de Nederlandse Boksbond de finales bereikt. De Brabantse Alicia Holsken treft al snel in de middagsessie (aanvang 12 uur) de Russische Galina Chumgalakova en Peter Mullenberg komt later ook in actie tegen de Engelsman Patrick Allen Gipps. Twee tegenstanders die internationale successen op hun naam hebben staan. Reden genoeg om als toeschouwer aanwezig te zijn.
In de avondsessie (aanvang 17 uur) boksen Enrico Lacruz, Roy Korving en Max van der Pas. Ook zij ontmoeten gerenommeerde tegenstanders te weten Sulaiman Segawa (UGA), Ruben Veciunca (Belgie) en Mason Homes (Eng). Kortom, ook de avondsessie is een bezoek waard.
Het zijn niet alleen de Nederlanders die blij zijn met Eindhoven Box Cup. Ook de Indonesiërs, Russen, Duitsers en Engelsen zijn te spreken over het toernooi. Of zoals een van de Indonesiërs zijn tevredenheid uitte: ,,We komen graag terug.” Eric van de Heuvel, de stuwende kracht achter dit initiatief, glunderde van trots!
De Eindhoven Box Cup is als een nu al geslaagd toptoernooi begonnen. Niet alleen won de eerste Nederlandse Olympiër na 24 jaar, Peter Mullenberg, een spetterende partij tegen de ijzersterke Rus Imam Khataev maar het evenement kreeg extra glans doordat wereldkampioen bij de profs, Tyson Fury het Van der Valk hotel kwam binnenwandelen. Een bezoek uit pure belangstelling door zijn connectie met kickboxer Albert Kraus en een trainingsverblijf in Brabant. Zijn aanwezigheid werd opgemerkt door tientallen boksliefhebbers, die enthousiast een selfy met hem wilden maken.
Dat was nog eens een verrassing van jewelste. Mullenberg en Fury in de picture. ,,Het is een droom die uitkwam”, aldus een van de organisatoren Eric van de Heuvel. ,,Toen we vorig jaar aan de voorbereiding van dit plan begonnen, had niemand gedacht dat zoiets ooit zou lukken.” Het boksen van Peter deed nog een schep bovenop. Hij wist na de loting dat hij tot het uiterste moest gaan. Want Khataev was een gevaarlijke routinier die een grote staat van dienst heeft. De kwalificatie-vorm moest worden gehaald om de komende Pinksterdagen voor de hoofdprijs in aanmerking te blijven komen. Dat is gelukt. Het publiek klom op de banken en scandeerde onophoudelijk zijn naam. Het resultaat: een onbetwiste triomf! De EBC is kortom verrassend begonnen. Zondag gaat het toernooi verder met circa 60 partijen en tweede Pinksterdag worden de finales afgewerkt.
Ook de overige leden van de nationale A-selectie begonnen met een overwinning. EnricoLacruz, Max van der Pas en Roy Korving gaan allen door naar de volgende ronde.
